Fruit of the Week: Week 18

Or rather, vegetable of the week! Baby is a sweet potato this week (when I found this out, I immediatly craved sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top... yummmm!). I've been feeling soft baby movements every once in awhile, and I can't wait until they get stronger!

Right now I'm resting while watching reruns of Tori & Dean and editing photos, totally recovering from a weekend of gardening! Keenan and I decided to spruce up our backyard a bit and do some planting! I was in charge of the shopping part (which I always do well!) while K did most of the manual labor. I must have spent a bit too much time out in the sun arranging all the plants, because my neck and chest are a little on the cherry side. Gardening is exhausting work, but well worth the effort because I finally want to spend time in my backyard now (well, atleast in the shade!). Maybe once I recover I'll take my camera back there and snap some pictures!

First Movements!

Last night I went out to dinner with some ladies. Feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't partake in the yummy drinks, I decided to be a little naughty and order a Coke. After a few sips I felt a unique sensation in my stomach. I'm very familiar with gas bubbles these days, and knew what I had felt wasn't gas. I'm pretty sure it was the first time I was feeling the baby move! It felt very much like someone was flicking me gently from inside my tummy =)
This afternoon I've been sitting on the couch and editing photos and I felt another small flick. I decided to gently push back, which caused another flick! Baby and I did this for a few moments until I'm pretty sure he/she tired of my pokes and moved away. Pretty amazing!
I had to call Keenan to tell him I was playing with the baby. His response was "Are you sure you should be doing that?" Oh honey, it's not like I'm poking him/her in the eye with a sharp needle =)

Fruit of the Week

Today I'm 17 weeks pregnant and the baby is the size of an onion! Still waiting to feel those first kicks (there's been some movement in there, but I'm sure it's most likely gas bubbles). This morning I was able to schedule "The Big Ultrasound" and have to wait another 3 weeks plus a day until we can find out if Baby Atkin is playing for team blue or team pink!In other exciting news, Keenan's parents wanted to purchase our crib for us!!! So last night an order was placed for this crib, and it shipped today! I can't wait to get it so we can start on all the other projects (refinishing a dresser to match from IKEA, sewing the bedding, creating a changing table pad, painting, molding, curtains, etc, etc).
All right, back to editing photos!

16 Week Appointment

Yesterday was another good doctor appointment (well, besides the needle part!). Keenan and I got to listen to the baby's heartbeat for the first time: 160 bpm!!! It's always nice to go to the doctor's office and get confirmation that yes, I'm still pregnant =) Dr. Song said everything seemed to be going perfectly, and she gave me the go ahead to schedule the Big ultrasound in 3-4 weeks!!! I'm thinking my patience will only last about 3.
Well, Keenan and I are heading out for a fun day of errands =) Garage sale shopping, lunch, and IKEA!

Fruit of the Week: 16 weeks

It's really weird to go grocery shopping now in the produce aisles since the size of the baby is always compared to some piece of fruit. When I found out that Baby is the size of an avocado this week, my mind immediately flashed back to the last time I bought one for guacamole. Totaly weird to imagine that there's an avocado in my tummy.

I was reading that Baby can start picking up voices and sounds this week, which means Daddy and I need to work on our language. Not that either of us are too bad at it, but there are those rare occasions.

This Friday I have my 16 week doctor appointment. I'm hoping that we'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat and that the doctor will give me the go ahead to schedule my big ultrasound =) Hopefully by this time next month we'll know whether this baby is a boy or girl, so keep the voting going!

All right, it's lunch time and I'm actually starting to feel hungry for the first time in a week (hopefully a sign that this cold is on the mend!).

Playing Catch Up

Yes, I know it's been awhile. And after a week of vacation that included a road trip down to Eugene, a couple photo shoots, a sick hubby and a fight with a cold (battle is still taking place), I'm finally taking a moment to update the blog.

I never created last week's Fruit of the Week post, but during the 15th week the baby is the size of a naval orange (is it considered some type of cannibalism then that one of my favorite things to eat is oranges?). And I have to laugh when I reconnect with family and friends that one of the first places they look is for "the bump." Never having been blessed in the chest (well, until recently), it's quite a strange feeling to have that "Hey buddy, my eyes are up here" type of feeling. Oh well, it's my bump, and I'm wearing it proud! (Even when the males in my family like to crack jokes about how big I'm getting, to which I respond by patting their tummies and asking when they are due =) ). Without further ado, I give you the latest bump pic:

Yesterday was Mother's Day, and Keenan and I decided that since I'm in charge of feeding this baby and taking care of it, that I get to celebrate this year too. So I woke up to pancakes and strawberries, and then later he gave me an album to start scrapbooking this pregnancy. I can't wait to start!
Today I'm totally playing catch up and editing 3 photo shoots (hopefully I'll finish by the time my next shoot comes on Saturday). And I'm trying to fight off this cold. Poor K had to deal with my emotional outburst tonight because I wanted Sprite (which we don't have) instead of the juice I had already had 3 glasses of. And there was almost another one in the middle of Fred Meyer when they were all out of the Nutrigran bars I've been snacking on. But I think I've pulled myself together (for the night at least), and am about to get back into my comfies to watch some Monday night sitcoms!
