Not this time! Thanks to Old Navy and Crowdtap, I was able to go on a shopping spree with my favorite girl friends yesterday!

I invited three of my favorite mom friends to my Old Navy Cardi Party, knowing that most of their spending money goes to their kids clothes as well. We met up for pre-shopping cocktails to catch up and discuss what styles we were hoping to find in the store. I mentioned how my phone did not support Old Navy's new Snap Appy ap, so my friend Brynn downloaded it onto her iPhone so we could play around with it while in the store. I was also able to share with them my favorite outfits under one of my Pinterest style boards.

After our drinks were finished it was time to hit the store! We had a blast just grabbing handfuls of clothes and taking them to try on. Once in the fitting rooms we challenged each other to put together some creative outfits.

I had three looks that I wanted to try out: the weekend fun look, the game day look, and the professional look. Each look consisted of a cardigan, scarf, camisole and either skirt or skinny pant.

I decided to go with the professional look so I have something to wear when I meet with clients. The red cardigan was cozy and warm (something that I'll need as we head into fall in Washington). The brown corduroy pencil skirt fit nicely on my body shape, however it may not be a pick for some body shapes (I wish Old Navy offered another option for skirt this fall that was not a pencil one). The red wedge shoes and the wrap scarf completed the outfit nicely. I am definitely going back soon to grab the skinny jeans and blue polka dot camisole to complete the weekend look as well! While I'm there I may have to splurge for the game day option as well, as I can't seem to get those yellow flats out of my mind!

Thank you Old Navy and Crowdtap for a fantastic day out with my favorite girls!

But boy has life been busy with a newborn and photo shoots! I thought I wasn't going to go back to work until after the holidays, but of course I found it really hard to turn down my favorite clients, so I ended up booking 5 photo sessions in one week! I have three more this weekend, plus editing, so it's going to be another busy few weeks! And that's not even mentioning the holidays!
Speaking of holidays, I took Courtland to see Santa at a local nursery last weekend. We made an appointment with an awesome photographer and were able to get some great shots with Santa! Here are a few of my favorites:

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I've made the nice list this year. Well, that is until I pull your beard off in a second!
I'm pretty sure Santa's bringing me a convertible for Christmas! He's growing so much already and it makes me sad that he's not my tiny little newborn any more! Anyhow, I figured I better post the birth story while he's napping (otherwise it might never get done!)
Over three weeks ago I had my 39 week appointment with my doctor and had her strip my membranes to see if that would kick start labor. I was really thinking that it wasn't working because I didn't really have any contractions or cramps. My parents came up to visit that weekend, and on Saturday my mom and I went to the mall to "Walk him out." Came back home and went to sleep.
Sunday morning around 2 am, Nya crawled under the bed covers and cuddled against the back of my legs. I remember thinking "I really hope my water doesn't break on my cat." A few hours later I woke up, kind of feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. As soon as I sat up my water broke! I woke up Keenan, then my parents and called labor and delivery, who told me to take my time but to come in. Thinking I had many, many hours ahead of me, I took time to put on my makeup, sent Keenan to go get himself a cup of coffee, ate some toast, packed my bag, etc. By the time we finally got to the hospital it was around 7 am.
The first nurse who checked me told me I was already at 10 cm! I was shocked because I really had felt no pain, and worried that I may have missed the chance for my epidural! Another nurse checked me as well, and told me I was actually at 3 cm. They then hooked me up to pitocin, and the contractions really started getting bad then! After a few hours, I was sweating and making myself nauseous by breathing so hard through contractions. The nurse checked me and I was at 5 cm. I then asked for my epidural and within a few minutes the Good Doctor came in! He noticed the needle went a little to the left as he put it in, and sure enough, my left side got real numb but the right side still had feeling. I wasn't complaining because it was still only half the pain, and this I could deal with, but the nurse noticed I tensed up with every contraction still so another doctor came in to fix the epi and gave me another dose. Needless to say, I was really, really numb!
Around 11, the nurse checked me again and I was at 10 cm already! She told me I could do some practice pushes to see if I was even able to push since I was so numb. I must have done a good job, because everything was set up and by 11:30 I was pushing! Baby started to get fatigued after an hour, so I was given some oxygen and the on call doctor came in and explained that she would have to use a vacuum to help the baby out. The vacuum, two cuts and a tear later, and my baby boy was out! Even with his cone shaped head he was still the most precious thing I had ever seen!
And now it's three weeks later and he is already growing into those giant hands he had at birth. His cone head is beginning to fade, and he is starting to hold his head up and really look at mommy and daddy. He's becoming my big boy.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-3819872335662048242009-11-02T19:51:00.000-08:002009-11-02T20:03:27.644-08:00I'm So In Love!Okay, this is probably a week over due, and most of you know our news by now, but we have ourselves a healthy baby boy!!! Courtland was born on October 25th at 12:50 pm, weighing in at 7lbs, 14oz and measuring 20 3/4 inches. He looks exactly like Daddy, and is absolutely gorgeous!
I promise to write a birth story later, but I thought there may be some people who are anxious to see some new photos! Here are a few that I took the other day. It's much more difficult to take photos of your own child than a client, let me tell you! His sweaters can still cover up the whole bump.
Stretch Marks: My nurse likes to call them "Nature's Tattoos"...I think God is turning me into a zebra.
Sleep: I'm usually napping by 4 and in bed by 11. Still getting up at least 3 times a night to relieve myself.
Best Moment this Week: Dinner date with the hubs on Saturday. We shared a pizookie (those things are heaven!), and even went to BRU to buy this little man some toys to entice him to come out. Hasn't worked yet though.
Movement: Okay, remember last week when I posted about the movements reminding me of the movie Alien? A few days later The Punisher was moving at my appointment, and the doctor said it reminded her of the movie also!
Food Cravings: Sweets. Need I say more?
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Nada, except for those same old braxton hicks.
Belly Button: I'll let you know when I happen to have one again.
What I Miss: Going shopping at the mall without having to sit and rest every 15 minutes.
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Well, I would say having a baby, but I think he's going to stay in there until he gets an eviction notice (in other words, the doctor decides to induce me)
Weekly Wisdom: I've got nothing at the moment.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-92109961036285415932009-10-15T12:04:00.000-07:002009-10-15T12:08:27.998-07:00Just Last Year...Yeah, I don't think we'll be rocking that Halloween costume this year! In fact, since you're predicted to be a little on the big side (to which I can totally agree with do to how much space you take up in my uterus already!), it would be absolutely splendid if you decided to join us within the next few days.
Yes, I'm 38 weeks pregnant today and still playing the waiting game. At least I have some pretty cute baby clothes to show for it! Here's all the loot from my most recent Gap and Gymboree purchases:
The tinier stuff (0-3):
The "holiday" looks (3-6 months) - So after I purchased the red and gray striped sweater, I realized that I totally have a red and gray striped sweater myself. It was wonderful to hang out and relax with my girl friends for a few hours! And the food was wonderful as well! And Sunday's swap and sale was pretty fun too!
Movement: Yup! I cannot wait to see who you look like and what your personality will be. Please join us soon!

Yes, I'm becoming quite eager to meet my little man! Infact, I told my husband just the other night that I really think this will be the only time in my life that I very seriously want to "wet" myself. After his very puzzled look, I explained that it most likely means that my water broke and then labor's on like donkey kong! So yes, at this time, I'm praying for that puddle!
I have a doctor appointment this afternoon, and I'm really hoping for some good progress news! I'm too much of a planner and this waiting game is already getting old. So please, Baby C, come out soon!staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-7822542547541487152009-10-06T13:34:00.000-07:002009-10-06T13:53:51.261-07:00My Last Fruit, and boy, It's a Biggie!Yes, The Punisher is now a watermelon! We've made it full term baby! If he were born today, his chances of thriving are excellent. Please Baby, don't make me wait much longer!
I think I've officially hit the nesting phase! The past few days I have been cleaning my house, vacuuming everything, dusting, even scrubbing toilets. Which has led me to designate one toilet in my house as a female only toilet, and hopefully this will save my sanity when it comes time to potty train in a few years. Boy toilets are just disgusting to clean. I won't go into details.
So yes, the top of my house is almost all clean, and now I'm working my way downstairs. Hopefully I'll be finished by the time of the shower my friend Kate is throwing for me on Saturday!
Here's one of my last weekly surveys:
How far along: 37 weeks
Maternity Clothes: Hard to find clothes that fit now that Baby has dropped. Since my pants have to ride lower, I'm having a problem with the bottoms of my tops exposing a few inches of belly. Not cool.
Stretch Marks: My nurse likes to call them "Nature's Tattoos"...I think God is turning me into a zebra.
Sleep: Feeling like cat naps might be more productive these days and help prepare myself for what's to come.
Best Moment this Week: My Gap order came today! And Keenan and I had a great weekend together, might be our last weekend alone for awhile!
Movement: He likes to party, party!
Food Cravings: Not really hungry these days. I don't think there is much room in there now that I have a watermelon in my uterus!
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Does nesting count? Few contractions, but nothing regular.
Belly Button: I'll let you know when I happen to have one again.
What I Miss: Clothes that fit.
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: My doctor appt. on Thursday, family coming to visit on Friday, my shower on Saturday, then browsing through gently used clothes at a swap and sell party on Sunday! Oh, and maybe a baby???
Weekly Wisdom: Never tell a pregnant woman that she "looks done" It does not make her feel good, and she's probably already just a tiny bit miserable.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-53844075378279255472009-09-29T21:01:00.000-07:002009-09-29T21:28:09.715-07:00One Stylish Dude & Weekly SurveyWhen Gap sent me an email the other day with a promo code for 25% off an entire online purchase, I sent it to my recycling folder without clicking on the link. I, however, could not ignore the images of gorgeous little boy outfits that a fellow "Bumpie" posted on our Seattle moms forum. I HAD to visit www.gap.com after that! Here are a few of the items I just couldn't pass up:
This was totally a justified purchase...I mean, Baby C NEEDS a jacket for winter after all. Might as well get him this killer motorcycle one! I woke up that morning and wasn't feeling very well and couldn't keep anything down, not even water. I finally called K at work and told him he needed to come home to take me to the hospital since I was having contractions that were coming every five minutes. They weren't too intense, but they were way more regular than anything I had experienced so far and had me a little nervous.
So after a quick shower to shave my legs, we headed into Labor and Delivery. They checked me into a labor room, hooked me up on monitors and saw that my contractions were coming every 2-4 minutes. The nurse gave me my first internal (sooo uncomfortable!), and told me that I was two centimeters dilated. They thought the contractions were brought on because I was dehydrated, so they hooked me up to an IV and gave me two bags of fluids. After a few hours I was still having contractions, but baby looked good and they checked me again. Since I was still at two centimeters, they gave me a shot that is supposed to stop contractions and sent me home after a total of 5 hours in the hospital.
The next morning I woke up to more contractions, so I called my clinic and made an appointment to see another doctor (my doctor was on vacation that week). Of course, after just relaxing all day and drinking plenty of fluids, the contractions eased up but I still went to my afternoon appointment. The doctor gave me yet another fun internal, but she thought I was only 1 centimeter dilated and didn't think I was in labor. She believed that I had a virus that caused me not to feel well and become dehydrated, and that's what brought on the contractions. She also said at this point since I'm pretty close to my due date they wouldn't do anything to stop labor at this point. So basically, right now it's a wait and see game.
I've canceled the rest of my photo shoots and have been resting up. I don't feel nauseous any more, however, I now have my husband's cold. My mom and dad traveled up Thursday night so she could stay with me while K and my dad went back to Portland for a car auction that Keenan needed to go to for work. She really helped me by cleaning up my house and catching up on my laundry. It felt pretty nice to be spoiled =)
I'm still having some contractions, but nothing that is regular or intense. I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday and while I think this little guy will make an early appearance, I don't think he'll be here for another few weeks. Probably.

35 Weeks, 5 Daysstaceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-90296190647605392762009-09-22T10:33:00.000-07:002009-09-22T10:54:32.360-07:0035 Weeks, 35 Days Left!Yup, I have finally reached the 35/35 marker in this pregnancy! At this point, I am having very mixed emotions. On one hand, I am very anxious to meet this active guy and to see who he takes after and if he has a lot of hair or if he's going to look like Papa Bill for awhile =) I'm also done with the aches and pains and can't wait to be able to bend again! On the other hand, I am still feeling like there is soooooo much work to do that I'm going to need all the time I can get!
What's on my to-do list still?
- Packing hospital bag
- Installing car seat and inspection
- Finishing the nursery
- Sewing Boppy cover
- Finishing the last two paintings
- Majorly cleaning the house
- Reorganizing the kitchen to make room for bottles, baby bath supplies, etc
- Sewing a labor and delivery gown (if I have to push this big baby out, the least I can do is look cute while doing so, right? =) Yes, totally vain and pointless, but I am a photographer who is always thinking about the photo perspective)
- Shopping for those last minute items
- Finishing birthing class (only two more to go!)
Whew, makes me exhausted just to look at it! Which means I better get on to the weekly survey, wrap up this blog and then get my butt into gear!
How far along: 35 weeks
Maternity Clothes: I can finally see that the end is in sight!
Stretch Marks: Yes, but not on my belly. Now they are working they way onto my hips as well. Grrrr.
Sleep: Getting more impossible every week. I feel like naps all throughout the day would be more beneficial at this point than trying to stay in bed and sleep through the night.
Best Moment this Week: Hanging out with family this weekend in Eugene! And that the Ducks beat the Utes!
Movement: Definitely, he'll keep us on our toes for sure!
Food Cravings: Not really anything. Wondering if my cravings will start up again when I'm done being pregnant since I had worse cravings before this pregnancy than I have throughout this pregnancy.
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Few mild contractions, but they have slowed way down.
Belly Button: I'll let you know when I happen to have one again.
What I Miss: Bending over, being able to squeeze through tight spots, the times when getting in and out of a vehicle was not such a production
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Spending time with family in Portland this weekend. Doctor appointment next Tuesday.
Weekly Wisdom: Fresh out of wisdom at this point, please try again later.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-86037386788940034682009-09-15T09:28:00.001-07:002009-09-15T09:41:30.449-07:00Weekly Survey & Maternity Sneak Peek!I think I may have found a new favorite place to shoot portraits! Downtown Tacoma has some really cool brick buildings and other very urban spots, and made a great location for some maternity photos for K and I! Here are just a few of my favorites from this weekend's session (Thanks again Rachael!):

How far along: 34 weeks
Maternity Clothes: I can still button up my prepregnancy "fat" pants!!! Uncle Marshall and his girlfriend came for a visit, and Rachael was able to go with me to my doctor appointment on Friday. Things were looking good, but the doctor started laughing when trying to find the baby's heart rate because he was moving all over and kicking her doppler. When she did find it, it was 180, so she hooked me up to the monitor for 20 minutes just to make sure it was above normal due to movement (which it was, considering when he got a little sleepy and slowed down, his heart rate went back down to 150). So he looked good, but the monitor also picked up some contractions I was having. Nothing serious enough to send me into labor, but I was told to rest up and drink plenty of fluids.
Well, as fun as this weekend was, it wasn't what I would call restful. Saturday was full of maternity pictures (thanks Rachael for coming up and doing them for us! Sorry I was so indecisive!). We did some studio shots, then headed into Tacoma for a more urban vibe. Then came home to complete the maternity photos.
On Sunday, we headed to Golden Gardens Park in Seattle for a morning maternity shoot, then made our way to the Seahawks game. We ended up having to walk about 2 miles to the stadium, then up (and up and up) an entirely too long ramp to get to our seats. A few minutes into the game I felt one of the bigger contractions. I've been having them off and on, but nothing regular, and the doctor told me if I had 6 in one hour, to go to labor and delivery. Well, a few minutes later I had another one. Then another one. Luckily I only counted 7 during the whole game time (around 3 hours), so nothing quite serious enough for me to go to the hospital, but definitely more than what I had been having. The car ride home took forever, since this kid decided to kick my right side the entire way! Once home though, I put my legs up and have been resting ever since. I still am getting a few contractions (especially when I stand), but they don't seem as often.
We are thinking this kid is going to come early. Keenan's thinking October 4rth is going to be the day, but I'm hoping to bake him until at least 37 weeks. Which freaks me out when I think that's only 3 weeks away. But as much as this kid moves around, I really think he's feeling squished and is trying to find any exit he can!
Here's hoping for at least another 3-4 weeks!

33 Weeks, 6 Daysstaceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-90642732297266655652009-09-08T16:09:00.000-07:002009-09-08T16:19:52.893-07:00Monthly Fruit & Weekly Survery: 33 WeeksBaby's a honeydew melon for the next few weeks! I'm having a feeling those days are pretty much gone now. It takes me a whole day just to recover from a few hours of running errands.
On top of the exhaustion returning, I'm feeling rather large now too. I can't imagine how much bigger I will be getting in the next few weeks. Yesterday I went to a Starbucks drive thru to grab a decaf pumpkin spice latte (oh how I LOVE fall!), and the ladies at the window could tell that I was pregnant even though I was sitting in my car. There is not hiding the bump these days!
A few weeks ago a Comcast guy came to install our landline and asked me when I was due. I'm soooo obviously pregnant, my belly totally hangs out but it's really the only place I've gained weight, and I thought it would be absolutely hilarious to just answer "Due for what?" Can you imagine the look of panic/surprise? I really should do that one of these days.
The other day at Target a little boy, who must have been 3 years old, looks at me and announces really loud to his mom "She's got a baby in her tummy" The mom turned quickly around with a mortified look, saw me, then relaxed and started laughing. I thought it was pretty funny too. Like I said, it's completely obvious that I'm pregnant now.
My other news is that birth classes start tonight. Definitely predicting more "I'm so not ready for this" moments! Hopefully there will at least be one guy there that will be pure entertainment by asking the stupid questions. Maybe that will distract me from the fact that I have to push this predicted-to-be-8.5-9.5lb baby out of my body.
In other news, the Gymboree baby sale begins today!!! I'm totally planning on going before I have to meet Keenan at his work. Maybe a little retail therapy will help calm the nerves?

32 Weeks, 1 Daystaceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-16040350638681243182009-09-01T16:33:00.001-07:002009-09-01T17:04:59.846-07:00Baby Shower Pics & 32 Week SurveyMy mom and two sisters in law threw me a baby shower this weekend! Thought I would post the progress of the room so far:
Please excuse my short and fat Eiffel Tower. I assure you the This is Paris book got the portions more accurate. I thought about repainting it, but then I figured it's quirky so I left it. Plus if the Punisher wants to know more about it I'm sure K and I are going to encourage him to go visit in person! I made a few adjustments to this painting as well, fewer cars and dark gray skies. Why the dark skies? When K insisted we visit this site on our honeymoon he ignored my warnings about a coming storm. We got lost trying to find the Pantheon and ended up caught in a torrential downpour. Now, growing up in Oregon, I'm used to rain, but I'm pretty sure this was a monsoon! We ducked into a local coffee shop (where I learned for the first time that when you order a latte overseas you don't get nice creamy espresso, you get plain steamed milk). After an hour of waiting, the rain still had not let up, so we bought a cheap umbrella from the street guys who come out of cracks with umbrellas to sell, cozied up together under this tiny umbrella and finished our adventure to the Pantheon.
This is Rome (the book):
The view from the closet:
Our glider!
From the room entrance:
The crib I adore! That's how many days until the estimated due date of this little bundle! Sixty-three. And I have a feeling they are going to just zoom by! Keenan and I start our birth classes next Wednesday, that's how close we are getting to the big day! Wow.
I think I have started my nesting phase. I'm starting to get things done around here, finishing some of the big projects. Infact, this last week I finished a blanket and two more paintings! I'm going to take pictures of them tonight and I'll post them soon! My goal is to have his nursery mostly completed for when my friend Kate hosts a friends baby shower here in October. I have six more weeks to really get things done if I want to accomplish that goal.
We have decided to share the first letter of The Punisher's real name (only because the blanket I made for his nursery is super cute and has it stitched on it, so if I want to share pictures of that, then we have to reveal the initial.) Be warned, however, that we will not divulge any more information on the subject and will not say "yes" or "no" to any guesses (although feel free to leave your guesses in the comments section! I'd love to hear your ideas!). You all have to just wait until the big day =) Our baby's first name begins with...drum roll please... "C".
Like I promised earlier, I'll post pictures soon, but for now, I leave you with the weekly survey:

How far along: 31 weeks
Maternity Clothes: I have a closet full.
Stretch Marks: Yes, but not on my belly.
Sleep: I sleep on my left side and I hate that I have to roll over for my nightly visits to the porcelain throne. The belly gets all lopsided and it's quite the production. I can only imagine what the next few weeks may bring.
Best Moment this Week: Date day with the hubs on Saturday! We tried a new bagel shop for lunch, went shopping, watched a movie and then had dinner out. Good day!
Movement: He just settled down after being a wiggle worm for 30 minutes.
Food Cravings: Hmmmm, not really craving anything at the moment.
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Nothing this week
Belly Button: There is a small portion that sticks out a bit if I'm standing, but still more of an "innie" than an "outie"
What I Miss: Being able to get on the ground quickly when photographing kids
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: My doctor appointment on Thursday (the last one was canceled) and my baby shower this weekend!
Weekly Wisdom: Always make use of the nearest bathroom. You never know when you will find another one.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-71916772639963371732009-08-18T10:01:00.000-07:002009-08-18T10:17:12.422-07:00Weekly Survey: 30 WeeksMan, the clock is really counting day these days! 10 more weeks, 10! I can do the count down on my fingers now! Exciting and scary at the same time!

How far along: 30 weeks
Maternity Clothes: Yup
Stretch Marks: Yes, but not on my belly.
Sleep: Getting harder these days. Can't get comfortable very easy, and when I do it only lasts about 30 minutes before something either starts to ache or go numb. Then when I do fall asleep, I have crazy dreams about hurricanes, torpedoes and purposefully pouring leftover beer on the guest bed
Best Moment this Week: Having a girl's day last Wednesday with my cousin and brother in law's girlfriend, being lazy with my husband all weekend
Movement: Oh yes! Now he likes to jab my right side with his feet.
Food Cravings: Last Friday I really, really craved pancakes at midnight! Unfortunately McDonalds wasn't serving their breakfast menu yet, so I had to settle for an Eggo waffle instead. However, my husband made me breakfast in bed the next morning...with pancakes!
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Nothing this week
Belly Button: Half in, half flush with the rest of my stomach. At least it's not an outtie...yet.
What I Miss: Walking at a normal speed, being able to use my ab muscles
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Well, I was looking forward to my doctor appointment until it got canceled =( But that leaves all week open to make serious progress with baby projects!
Weekly Wisdom: Never tell a pregnant woman she looks like she's going to pop. It's never a pleasant feeling, especially when you have a few months left to go!staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-61693387300221440042009-08-11T15:47:00.000-07:002009-08-11T16:01:21.140-07:00Fruit of the Month & Weekly Survey: Week 29Only eleven more weeks? You have got to be kidding me! I feel like I've been really productive lately with all of my photo shoots (have to squeeze all those clients in before mat leave!), baby projects, etc, but it looks like I'm going to have to step it up another notch or two if I want to finish everything in time! Luckily my mom and dad came up this weekend and we were able to get some of the sewing projects completed.
Baby has been growing like crazy, and I now feel him kicking my ribs. He is taking up so much space in there, that I am easily breathless because my lungs are so squished. And I've been having a few braxton hick contractions, but those are perfectly normal and nothing really to be alarmed about. Just nature's way of preparing for birth (which I'm still trying to block out of my mind). This month, baby moves up to a squash!
How far along: 29 weeks
Maternity Clothes: Basically the only things that fit these days
Stretch Marks: Yes, but not on my belly.
Sleep: Still having some really odd dreams. This last week I dreamt that Michael Jackson was still alive, but that I accidently ran him over with my SUV and killed him. Oops
Best Moment this Week: Finishing some projects with my mom and dinner last night with my cousin and her family
Movement: Definitely, but the little stinker won't perform on command
Food Cravings: Anything sweet, since I've been told to cut back
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Nope, not really. Just a few small braxton hicks that didn't even hurt.
Belly Button: Half in, half flush with the rest of my stomach. At least it's not an outtie...yet.
What I Miss: Being able to eat anything with sugar and not feel guilty.
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Finishing editing my latest 3 photo sessions, shopping with my cousin, and hopefully making a small dent in the remaining projects.
Weekly Wisdom: Fresh out of wisdom today...I've been staring at the computer for far too long.staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-73327968922329685022009-08-07T08:49:00.000-07:002009-08-07T09:08:37.009-07:00My First Big BreakdownI've been kind of sad the past few days. It all started when I got out of a nice warm bath and noticed my first stretch marks...(warning, this blog is about the become PG-13) on my ass! I now have an ugly ass =(
The next day I went to the doctor and received even more bad news. I should preface this by saying Baby A is fine, has a strong heartbeat of 150 and is measuring right on track. What was not so fine was I gained another 6 lbs in the last 4 weeks (bringing my total up to 14 lbs), the doctor told me I barely passed my gestational diabetes test last time so I have to really limit my refined sugars, and I had to get another Rhogam shot in my now ugly ass.
The weight thing was kind of a shocker. I was trying to keep track by my home scale, and according to that I had only gained 3-4 lbs. And I was not thrilled when the nurse (not the normal one I usually see who I love, this new one didn't even try to make small talk!), called me in for my weight check after I had just drank a ton of water (my doctor was called in for an emergency c-section, so I waited it out by going to Starbucks). I really wish the nurse would have let me pee first.
The borderline GD thing was a bummer to hear, especially since I thought that since I passed the test that I was fine. I would definitely have a doctor though who takes precautions and tells me to limit the sugars just in case rather than one who might not say anything since I technically passed the test. I totally wasn't prepared to hear that though.
I was really in a funk last night, trying to process all this information. And to be honest, I'm still a little overwhelmed. I mean, when I found out I was slightly anemic, they told me to drink a glass of juice with Vitamin C in it to help absorb the iron pill, yet yesterday I was being told to limit my juice intake. And trying to figure out what I can drink besides water and milk makes me crazy. On the positive side, at least I might not gain as much unnecessary weight by limiting my cookie intake. And I'll do whatever I can to make sure this little guy remains healthy.

28 weeks, 3 daysstaceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-29307963783163948552009-08-04T14:10:00.000-07:002009-08-04T14:34:03.747-07:00Weekly Survey: 28 WeeksYikes! Twelve more weeks until The Punisher gets here!!! There's sooooo much to accomplish in that time that it's just going to zoom by! And that's assuming he stays put until the whole 40 weeks (you never know, since he's supposed to be a big baby, he could get cramped and decide to come a few weeks early). Luckily Grandma B is coming up this weekend to help work on some of the numerous projects.
I have finished one of my projects: his coming home sweater. I'm hoping I knitted it correctly and that it will fit him okay. I plan to stick him in a onesie, put the sweater on him and hopefully I can find a pair of newborn khaki pants. I'm going to try to knit a little hat and booties to match, and it time allows, even a teddy bear with matching sweater.
I tackled the glider this weekend, and K started on his bookshelf last night. This pregnancy is zooming by, and there is still sooooo much to accomplish before The Punisher gets here! He's still an eggplant in size, but this is the week that measurements start being from crown to bottom of the foot instead of crown to rump. So he should be around 15 inches long and weigh over 2 lbs! No wonder my belly does the wave all day long!
K and I have picked out The Punisher's real name already, but are keeping it a secret until the day he decides to arrive. It's not really a weird name, just one that you don't really hear too often. And that's about all the hints you're going to get from me =)
His nursery is coming along. I just received his glider from Costco, so I'll have to put that together tonight. The last major pieces of furniture are the bookshelf and a small end table by the glider, and then I need to get the curtains and rod and it will finally look like a nursery. I still have paintings to finish, a mobile to make, and tons of other little projects to work on. The current one being a knitted sweater that I hope will fit him on the day that he comes home.
Still just trying to beat this heat! I've decided to take myself on a solo date to the movies in a few hours, then come back and lock myself up again. Soooooo thankful for that air conditioner! I don't know what I would be doing right now without it!

How far along: 27 weeks
Maternity Clothes: What clothes? It's either a tank and K's boxers or a maxi sun dress these days. If I had curtains on every window I'd be totally tempted to walk around the house in my underwear all day. Sadly, I'm not kidding.
Stretch Marks: Not yet (knock on wood)
Sleep: Wouldn't be getting any if not for my a/c!
Best Moment this Week: The mini bonfire at the beach I made with my husband. Oh, and the smores, can't forget the smores!
Movement: My stomach constantly does the wave these days
Food Cravings: Chocolate birthday cake.
Gender: Definite boy!!!
Labor Signs: Nope! Let's keep it that way for awhile.
Belly Button: Half in, half flush with the rest of my stomach. At least it's not an outtie...yet.
What I Miss: Seventy degree weather.
What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: A visit from Nick and Owen this weekend.
Weekly Wisdom: Drink plenty of water!!!staceyatkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08495585778049794517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2559840760119740559.post-48446518652634221652009-07-27T15:07:00.000-07:002009-07-27T15:41:57.827-07:00"Edward Cullen Didn't Sleep Here"I'm pretty sure the title of this post caught several Twilight fans! And while I must confess to reading each book in less than a week, I did not intend my last mini vacation to be so vampire filled! Infact, I left the travel arrangements up to my husband (who has never read any of the books) and I'm pretty sure he chose to stay at Forks, WA because of the proximity to the beach and rain forest rather than that tiny town being home of the Cullens. However, there was no escaping the Twilight posters in every restaurant, the three stores in one block dedicated to selling Twilight paraphernalia, and of course, the references to Twilight on all hotel billboards. Our hotel billboard read "Edward Cullen didn't sleep here," which one might cheer because it could imply that the hotel was the only one not caught up in the latest craze. But then, this person would not be a Twilight fan, because if you are, then you would know that Edward Cullen never sleeps because he's a vampire.
Keenan and I had a pretty good time avoiding the whole Twilight scene in lieu of Olympic National Park with Hurricane Ridge and Hoh Rain Forest:

One of the views on the way to Hurricane Ridge

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
