A Few Firsts!

Yes, it's Friday at 8 pm and already I'm waiting my pajamas which are in the dryer! No more late nights for me, 9:30 rolls around and I'm asleep in bed. Oh the joys of pregnancy =)
Last week we flew to New Orleans (a trip we planned before we found out we were preggers). Keenan really enjoyed it, and perhaps I would have had a little better time had I actually been able to eat the food (unfortunately, that week also brought on a new sympton...nausea!). Also, Bourbon Street may have held a little more appeal if I could actually sample some of those fruity drinks. But we did have fun at the basketball game and the airboat swamp tour. I learned that some alligators like to eat marshmallows and I got to hold a baby gator! Once we salvage the pics from my broken camera I'll share a few!
This week I've had a little bit of spotting. I wasn't too concerned about it, but luckily I was able to get into see my new doctor for an ultrasound to make sure things are okay. Keenan and I went in yesterday and got to see our baby on an ultrasound! The doctor was able to find the fetal pole (which I went home and googled, basically it's the head to rump of the forming fetus), and while the baby was measuring small at 5 weeks, 5 days (instead of 7 weeks, 2 days), she was able to find a heartbeat!
I had to come back in today for my first RhoGAM shot (since I'm A- and Keenan in O+, there is a chance that my blood could develop antibodies against the baby's blood if it's RH +, and this shot prevents that from happening). Normally they wait until the 28th week to give the shot, but since I had some spotting, the doctor just wanted to be careful. I also have another ultrasound in a few weeks at a lab to get a more clear measurement.
So, so far, so good!
The new due date is November 7th, 2009, which is good news for my dad who might get to go hunting after all, but could be bad for Keenan since that's getting into the most busiest season at his work. Baby's already creating his/her own schedule =)
